Destiny Smith

I’m a kitchen designer with nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, including 17 years dedicated specifically to designing kitchens. My interest in interiors started early and gradually grew into a career doing something I genuinely enjoy. Today, I love helping clients turn their ideas into kitchens that feel thoughtful, functional, and personal to their home. During your appointment, you can expect a friendly and collaborative experience. I take the time to understand how you use your space and guide you through the design process — ensuring the final kitchen works beautifully for both your lifestyle and your home.

Tell us about your design style and approach?

I bring together layout, colour, materials, and lighting to create kitchens that feel balanced, practical, and personal. My approach begins with listening carefully and understanding what each client wants from their space. For example, even if you’re not completely sure of your style yet, that’s all part of the process — and something I enjoy helping clients discover. From there, I introduce creative ideas and thoughtful design details that elevate the overall space. Additionally, I focus on ensuring the project runs smoothly from the first concept through to completion.

What are your core strengths as a kitchen designer?

My core strengths begin with understanding the brief. I take the time to listen carefully and learn what each client wants from their space. From there, I enjoy introducing creative ideas and thoughtful design details that elevate the overall kitchen. Furthermore, I focus on delivering a well-managed project experience — guiding clients smoothly from first concept through to completion.

Are there specific materials or finishes you love working with?

I love working with colour and layered textures to bring depth and personality into a kitchen design. I’m not afraid to introduce bolder finishes, as the right combination of materials can really elevate the overall space. Additionally, lighting plays an important role in every kitchen I design. Well-planned kitchen lighting highlights textures, enhances finishes, and helps bring the whole room to life.

Have you won any awards or certifications relevant to kitchen design?

I hold a Diploma in Interior Design from the British College of Interior Design — a qualification that underpins my understanding of space, colour, and materials across every project I take on.

What is your favourite Nolte Kitchen range/feature?

The PEARL range from the Innovations 2026 collection is one of my favourite features to design with right now. The finish is absolutely stunning — a metallic surface that adds depth and a real sense of luxury to a contemporary kitchen. What I love most is how the PEARL doors reflect natural and artificial light, creating a subtle shimmer that brings the whole space to life while keeping the design elegant and refined.

What is your best piece of design advice?

Enjoy the journey. If you approach the project with fear and hesitation, you’ll never achieve the results you’re aiming for. Instead, trust the process, be open to new ideas, and work with a designer who listens — because the best kitchens come from collaboration and confidence.

Any fun facts or hobbies outside of design?

Aside from my love of travelling to new destinations and exploring different cuisines from local cultures, I have a puppy called Chai whom I’m completely obsessed with. She’s incredibly affectionate — with the full attitude of a true diva.
