Tell us about your design style and approach?
I begin by understanding your experience with home projects. For example, some clients are renovating for the first time, while others have decorated or completed building work before. This helps me guide the kitchen design process in a way that suits your confidence and needs. Next, we discuss budget to ensure the investment is focused on what matters most. I also explore your personal style. That means understanding what you love and what you'd change. Finally, I consider the space itself. This includes natural light, layout, and connections to other rooms.
What are your core strengths as a kitchen designer?
My core strength is listening. By truly understanding your needs and priorities, I create a kitchen that feels personal and practical. It will be perfectly suited to your home. Furthermore, I enjoy combining different textures, materials, and colours to add depth and visual interest. Layering finishes, for instance, helps create a kitchen that feels dynamic and inviting — encouraging you to explore the room.
What is your favourite Nolte Kitchen range/feature?
It has to be the Nolte neoBox drawers that light up when you open them, along with the illuminated rails that provide subtle, hidden mood lighting. Lighting plays a huge role in kitchen design — consequently, these features make such a difference to how a kitchen feels at different times of day. They’re one of those details that clients never expect but always love.
What is your best piece of design advice?
Always be prepared. Think carefully about how you use your kitchen before you start making design decisions. Therefore, consider your daily routines, your storage needs, and how your family moves through the space. A kitchen designed around how you actually live will always feel better than one designed around how it looks in a showroom.
Any fun facts or hobbies outside of design?
I’ve been fortunate to visit many places around the world and I enjoy experiencing different cuisines, especially from local cultures. When I’m at home, I like to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Between my garden and allotment there’s always something to do — and I love growing my own ingredients to cook with in my own kitchen.
