Ellen Scott
Tell us about your design style and approach?
With new clients, I always start by listening. I want to understand your lifestyle, your habits, and what frustrates you about your current kitchen. From there, I build a design around how you actually live. Furthermore, I love helping clients move away from trends and towards something that feels genuinely right for them. As a result, the kitchen never goes out of style.
What are your core strengths as a kitchen designer?
I'm thorough, creative, and focused on the detail. In addition, I guide clients carefully through every decision — from layout and storage to finishes and appliances. I also work closely with my colleague Scott, so clients at our Hampstead showroom always have strong support throughout the process.
Are there specific materials or finishes you love working with?
My favourite Nolte range is neoSlate. In particular, I love the natural 3D textures combined with deep, dramatic colour — it adds real depth and character to any kitchen. Moreover, I'm drawn to designs that layer texture and tone in a considered way, because that's what makes a space feel truly bespoke.
What is your favourite Nolte Kitchen range/feature?
neoSlate is hard to beat. The combination of tactile, natural texture and rich colour gives kitchens a depth that's difficult to achieve with flat finishes. Furthermore, it works beautifully across a wide range of styles — from bold and contemporary to warm and understated.
What is your best piece of kitchen design advice?
Try not to follow trends too closely. Instead, go for what truly speaks to you. A kitchen designed around your taste and lifestyle will never go out of style. However, a kitchen that simply chases the look of the moment can feel dated surprisingly quickly.
Any fun facts or hobbies outside of design?
Outside of work, I love exploring interiors, architecture, and design in everyday life. As a result, it all feeds back into how I think about spaces and what makes them work.
