Matt Kelly

I've worked in the kitchen design industry for over seven years, designing and delivering millions of pounds worth of kitchens for a diverse range of clients. Throughout my career, I've managed projects from concept to completion. I focus on understanding each client's needs and creating a personalised solution for their space. In addition to design, I have extensive management experience. I've trained and mentored both new and established designers. I provide guidance on CAD software, design principles, and customer service. As a result, I understand what great kitchen design looks like from every angle.

Tell us about your design style and approach?

My design process is built on clear communication, efficiency, and professionalism. I start by listening carefully — learning about your lifestyle, your tastes, and what you want from your new kitchen. From there, I develop a design that balances style and functionality in equal measure. Furthermore, I manage the entire process from first meeting to installation. Clients always have a single point of contact they can trust.

What are your core strengths as a kitchen designer?

I pride myself on designing kitchens that maximise both space and style. I'm thorough, honest, and focused on delivering what each client actually needs — not just what looks good on paper. Additionally, my management background means I bring strong organisational skills to every project, keeping everything on track and on budget.

Are there specific materials or finishes you love working with?

My current favourite combination is Tavola Oak Barolo paired with Plus Black Anti-Fingerprint. Together, they offer the perfect balance of natural warmth, sleek sophistication, and practical durability. The oak brings timeless character, while the black anti-fingerprint finish adds a contemporary edge. Moreover, it's a pairing that works beautifully in both modern and transitional spaces.

What is your best piece of kitchen design advice?

Be open and honest with your designer throughout the entire process. Good communication is the foundation of any successful kitchen project. Share your ideas, your concerns, and your budget clearly. Furthermore, don't be afraid to say what you don't like — that information is just as valuable as knowing what you love. The more your designer understands you, the better the result will be.

What should I prepare for a consultation with you?

To make the most of your first appointment, it helps to bring key measurements or architect plans, photos of your current kitchen, and any design inspiration you've gathered. Additionally, think about your appliance preferences, the styles you're drawn to, and what you like and dislike about your current space. Having a budget and rough timeline in mind helps us tailor the design. We can then hit the ground running from your very first appointment.
